4. Sign Lease Agreement

Please complete, sign, and return the lease agreement before you move in. It will be reviewed by the university housing coordinator, after confirmation of the home assignment and move-in date. Please read through the lease agreement and 2022 BYUH Standard Terms and Rules carefully.

5. Pay Security Deposit

Your security deposit is equal to one month's rent. Please use this link to make your security deposit payment. (Make Security Deposit Payment). Your security deposit is due before you move in.

6. Set Up Utilities

For electricity, please contact Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO). For internet, you may contact Spectrum, Hawaiian Telcom, or your preferred internet provider to apply for those services.

For water and sewer, please complete, sign, and return the application forms to housingoperations@byuh.edu.

* Please verify utility services with the university housing coordinator prior to setting up utility services. Some homes are metered differently.

7. Key Pick-up

Once we receive confirmation of your security deposit payment, as well as a returned completed lease agreement, you may pick up the key to your rental unit, at the Housing Operations office (McKay Gym, 2nd floor, Room 282A) 8:30 am-4:00 pm. After office hours, or on weekends and holidays, the keys can be picked up at Campus Security. They are open 24 hours.

8. BYUH Property Inspection Form

The purpose of the checklist is to identify any defects with the unit, inventory items included in the dwelling unit (including fixtures, furnishings, appliances, and other personal property), and permit the Landlord to remedy any such problems immediately and to establish the condition of the unit and inventory of items to avoid disputes about its condition upon surrender of possession thereof. Download the Property Inspection Form.

We request that new tenants sign and return the completed checklist within the first seventy-two (72) hours of occupancy. Failure to return a completed checklist within seventy-two (72) hours of occupancy is an implicit acceptance that the unit (including fixtures, furnishings, appliances, and other personal property) does not have any damages, defects, or are in need of repair.
